Bivši Davis Cup i ATP igrač, trener Davis Cup reprezentacije Hrvatske, nastupao je na challenger turnirima,  Skopje, Portschach, Portorož, Perth, Renuin, San Luis, a i na turnirima  Stuttgart, Umag, Bukurešt, Zagreb Indoors, Kitzbuhel, licencirani  je trener.

 

Poznati hrvatski tenisač i teniski trener Igor Šarić rođen je 4. srpnja 1967. u Zagrebu. Sportsku karijeru započeo je rano. Šarićeve najbolje teniske godine, u kojima je zabilježio najveće uspjehe i nastupao na nizu uglednih međunarodnih turnira, bile su u drugoj po-lovici osamdesetih i prvoj polovici devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća. Šarić se tada borio u društvu brojnih hrvatskih teniskih zvijezda, a sam je ostao zapamćen po mnogim zanimljivim mečevima širom Europe i svijeta. Igračku karijeru gradio je udarajući lopticu desnom rukom.Prvi veliki nastup imao je 1986. godine na internacionalnom teniskom turniru u njemačkom gradu Stuttgartu. Na Stuttgart Outdooru Igor Šarić se te godine probio u kvalifikacijama, te ostao poražen u osmini turnira. Isti uspjeh ponovio je na turniru u Umagu 1993. godine. Te godine nastupio je na ATP turniru u Bukureštu, gdje je također stigao do osmine finala. Sljedeće, 1994. godine ponovno je nastupio na  turniru u Umagu, sa jednakim uspjehom, da bi 1996. došao u četvrtfinale Zagreb Indoorsa. Na umaškom i zagrebačkom turniru nastupio je i 1997. godine, gdje se probio do osmine finala.

U šest godina nastupio je na četiri velika turnira i borio se s 21 teniskim suparnikom. Između 1996. i 1998. godine Šarić je nastupio na nizu challenger turnira. Na challengeru u Skopju nastupio je 1996, a u austrijskom Portschachu 1997. godine. Iste godine igrao je i na challengerima u slovenskom Portorožu, australskom Perthu i na otoku Reunion. U travnju 1998. godine odigrao je posljednji challenger turnir u meksičkom gradu San Luisu. Posljednja dva ATP turnira Igor Šarić je odigrao u Umagu i austrijskom gradu Kitzbuhelu 2000. godine. Na oba natjecanja nije došao dalje od kvalifikacija. Igrao je i za Davis Cup reprezentaciju Hrvatske.

Na ATP listi najboljih igrača tenisa svih vremena objavljenoj u ožujku 2011. godine, Igor Šarić se nalazi na 1606. mjestu i ima 1054,76 boda. Najbolje mjesto na toj listi ostvario je 17. siječnja 2000. godine, kada je bio na 707. mjestu.Uz karijeru igrača s međunarodnom karijerom, te bavljenje trenerskim poslom, Šarić je zapažen i po stručnim radovima  s područja bijelog sporta. Na web stranicama Hrvatskog teniskog saveza može se pronaći njegov stručni rad - prezentacija “Tenis u zoni”, u kojem se opisuju specifične tehnike igranja, te navode mišljenja najpoznatijih svjetskih i domaćih igrača o njima. Surađivao je u zagrebačkom sportskom magazinu Tenis. Danas je aktivan kao trener u zagrebačkom Teniskom klubu Ponikve.

The renown Croatian tennis player and trainer Igor Šarić was born on July 4, 1967 in Zagreb. He began his sports career early. His best tennis years, during which he achieved his biggest successes and participated in many important international tournaments were in the second half ot the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s. Šarić played in the company of numerous Croatian tennis celebrities, while he is himself remembered for many interesting matches all around Europe and the world. He built his professional career by hitting the ball with his right hand.He made his first significant appearance at the international tennis tournament in Stuttgart in 1986. At the Stuttgart Outdoor Igor Šarić made it through the qualifications round and was finally beaten in the eighthfinals. He repeated this success at the tournament in Umag in 1993. The same year he played at the ATP tournament in Bukurest, where he also made it to the eighthfinals. The next year, 1994, he again played in the Istrian tournament in Umag, with the same success, only to make it to the quarterfinals at the Zagreb Indoors in 1996. He played again in Umag and Zagreb in 1997, where he was again beaten in the eighthfinals.

In six years, he played in the four important tournaments and fought against 21 opponents.Between the years 1996 and 1998 Šarić played at many challenger tournaments, for example at the challenger in Skopje in 1996, and in Austrian Portschach in 1997. The same year he played at the chal-lenger tournaments in Portorož in Slovenia, Perth in Australia and at the Island of Reunion. In April 1998 he played his final challenger in the Mexican town of San Luis. His last two ATP tournaments Igor Šarić played in Umag and Kitzbuhel, Austria in 2000. In both tournaments he didn’t make it through the qualifications. He also played for the Croatian Davis Cup national team.

ATP rankings of the best players of all times released in March 2011 show Igor Šarić on the 1606th place and has 1054.76 points. His best ranking ever was on January 17, 2000, when he was ranked 707th.Along with the career of a player with international career and work as a tennis trainer, Šarić is also known for his expert writing about tennis.
